Sire power is the key to Bhima’s 2018 Magic Millions yearling sale draft, with the likes of Snitzel, Medaglia d’Oro, Exceed And Excel, Savabeel and Sebring leading the way for Mike and Kate Fleming.

Kicking off strongly with Lot 16, the bay or brown colt is by Golden Slipper winner Sebring out of the Group 2 performed Dehere mare Lady Krovanh, while the next offering from the draft has had a significant pedigree update since the catalogue went to print.

Lot 142, the New Zealand-bred Exceed And Excel colt is out of the Group 1 runner-up Oasis Dream. Only the second foal of the mare, her first is the recent six length Listed Welcome Stakes winner Al Hasa, who was so impressive he had jockey Opie Bosson touting him as a leading Karaka Million and Golden Slipper chance.

Think Sweet Idea and Snitzerland -  both Group 1-winning filly graduates of this sale by Snitzel – now take a look at Lot 214, the brown Snitzel filly out of a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner He’s No Pie Eater from the family of Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Hurricane Sky and Umatilla, to name a few, time to get excited...

Another Snitzel filly (Lot 521) from the draft sure to create plenty of hype is the potential 2019 Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner. She is the third foal of the More Than Ready mare Augusta Proud, herself the winner of not only the Gold Coast running of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but the Adelaide edition as well.  A winner of a further four stakes race and a close-up fourth in the Group 1 Goodwood Handicap, Augusta Proud’s first foal was offered through the draft of Bhima where she was purchased by the Waterhouse stable for $450,000. Racing as Thyme For Roses, the filly was successful at Group 3 level before being on sold as a broodmare for $800,000 – no reason to think Lot 521 will not be in the same league.

Speaking of Snitzel fillies, another in the draft is the bay filly consigned as Lot 391. The third living foal of the dual Listed-winning, Group 1 placed Stravinsky mare Tip The Wink, the filly counts Group 1 winner Love Dance and fellow stakes winners See The World, Handfast and Rusambo as relations.

Meanwhile, a Snitzel colt with international appeal is Lot 807 is out of the unraced Honour And Glory mare Honor Patti, herself a half-sister to 11 time Group 1 winner, USA Horse of the Year and Champion Wise Dan, as well as stakes winners Successful Dan and Our Royal Dancer.

Not a weekend goes by where the name Savabeel is not in the stakes results and Bhima are very keen to offer Lot 232, the black or brown colt by the Champion Sire out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Registered Nurse, from a strong international black type family.

The progeny of young sires are always received with some slight trepidation in the sale ring, but in the case of Dissident, whose oldest are just yearlings and Zoustar who has two-year-olds, the reports have been very positive across the board. Lot 281 is a chestnut filly from the first crop of Horse of the Year Dissident, out of the Seeking The Gold mare Seeking Sunshine, a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Cloud Scapes, while Lot 449 is a bay colt by Zoustar. Out of the winning Rory’s Jester mare Wizard Princess, Bhima’s colt is a half-brother to the Listed winner Jackofall from the family of Group 1 performers Cheeky Choice, Danasia, Zabrasive and Scratchy Bottom.

Experiencing a great run through his current three-year-old crop highlighted by Group 1 VRC Oaks winner Pinot, Golden Slipper Pierro will be represented by a colt out of the winning Exceed And Excel mare Dance Card, herself a three-quarter-sister to the stakes winner Kaepernick, also a graduate of the farm.

Sire of exciting Group 1-winning colts Astern and Vancouver, Medgalia d’Oro is a truly global stallion, and Lot 760 should hold plenty of appeal. The third foal of the Group 3-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Global Balance, the pedigree of this colt contains successful international sires Spinning World and Pathfork.
