Zebedee is the exciting young sire of Lot 272 (pic: Cornerstone Stud)

The Adelaide Magic Millions would just not be the same without a quality boutique draft from the famous Balcrest Stud. A pastoral backdrop to the equally famous Haigh's Chocolates, the Haigh family has been investing in bloodstock and, in particular, the produce of a select group of winner producing mares for many years.

2018 is no different. The Balcrest team will head to Adelaide with three outstanding colts and 3 quality fillies:

Lot 34 is a colt by Gr1-producing sire and son of Fastnet Rock in Stryker, and leads the charge being from Devaraja (by Sir Tristram) line mare Fine Stem who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Pipkin. She's a winner-producing machine with 5 winners so far from only 6 foals, including 10 time winner Scaredymac. Vendor Notes: Well developed, nicely balanced sprinting colt from prominent winner producing dam.

Lot 152 is from Pipkin herself and from High Chaparral's first crop yearling sire son Toronado, a Champion UK miler with speed at 6 furlongs. Pipkin has had 3 winners already with Nipperkin and Host of the Party both having north of $100,000 in prize money to date. Vendor Notes: Classy and stylish, athletic colt from quality race-mare a  proven producer, by an outstanding new sire prospect.

Lot 237 is the first of the fillies, and another from a half-sister to Pipkin in Keep The Faith mare Tureen. She's had to to race for 2 winners and this filly is by another exciting first crop yearling sire in Puissance de Lune. Vendor Notes: Attractive, nicely developed filly with great stable attitude and work ethic.

Lot 271, the second of the Balcrest fillies is also by Toronado. She's from stakes-placed Danehill line mare Ambika, another with multiple winners under her name. This is a nice family that traces to third dam Ambala, the Gr1 Goodwood Handicap winner. Vendor Notes: Stylish, quality filly. Well balanced with a great walk whose dam was a stakes placed multiple city winner.

Lot 272 is by a son of Invincible Spirit in Zebedee. Invincible Spirit has obviously been ordained a sire-of-sires in Australia through the deeds of I Am Invincible and with nearly 200 winners to his name in the Northern Hemisphere Zebedee’s first crop in Australia is sure to have many admirers this season. This colt is from Bellotto mare Ambolene, a half-sister to Ambika and producer of 3 winners already. Vendor Notes: Athletic, well developed precocious sprinting type from winner producing mare.

Lot 319 rounds out the Balcrest Draft. She's the chestnut filly by Gr1 Hong Kong Cup winner Akeed Mofeed from Bianconi mare Cherilyn. With 1 to run for 1 winner she's a mare on the right path and comes with speed potential. Both stakes-placed Inglis Premier 2YO Classic winner Recruit and Listed Debutante Stakes winner Sweet Rajah are on her page. Vendor Notes: Big, scope, well balanced filly. A great walker by a quality International performer and now new sire.
