Frankel My Dear (AUS)
Well conformed Frankel My Dear

Sometimes, breeders are the beneficiary of bad-luck on the racetrack for a beautifully-pedigreed and well-conformed racehorse. Sold for $500,000 at the elite Inglis Easter Sale, Frankel My Dear, a son of the astonishingly successful racehorse and sire Frankel (Galileo-Kind, by Danehill), could end up typifying that example.

Retired to stud after becoming the world’s highest ever rated racehorse with fourteen undefeated starts – 10 at Group 1 level – Frankel’s dominance as a stallion has been equally profound. He boasts a staggering 26.6% stakes horses to runners, but even more remarkable is his 35.3% stakes-horses to runners who have Rainbow Quest in their dam’s pedigree.

Not only is Frankel My Dear out of the Irish-bred Rainbow Quest mare Buenos Aires – a big tick – she is a stakes-performed half-sister to an Australian superstar of the turf in Might And Power, a Horse of The Year that would be in many experts Top 10 of the past thirty years.

It’s a world-class family that bristles with Black Type winners, including Hong Kong champion miler Lucky Owners, dual Group 1-winning heroine Mosheen and multiple Gr2 winner Time For War. In July 2022, Mosheen’s Maurice weanling sold for almost $5 million to top the opening session of the esteemed 2022 JRHA July Sale.

Beaten less than 2-lengths on debut over 1000m at Flemington and then just 4-lengths behind in the Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes at The Valley, Frankel My Dear later put together back-to-back wins when connections returned him to his preferred sprinting distance after trying him over longer trips.

Retired from racing following a throat operation, Frankel My Dear offers breeders a cost-effective opportunity to tap into the Frankel phenomenon sweeping the globe.
