Vinery Stud adds another Gr1 dimension to the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale with its draft of ten yearlings coming down from the Hunter Valley.

The Vinery brand received a Gr1 fillip at the latest Melbourne Cup carnival when Aristia won the VRC Oaks for Flemington trainers Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra. And Vinery’s Premier graduates include international stars like South African Gr1 performer Brazuca.

First to parade at Oaklands is Lot 63, the Teofilo (Ire) full-brother to Brazuka who sold for $80,000 at the 2014 Melbourne Premier. He was Gr1-placed in the Cape Guineas and Cape Derby and trained on to win the Colorado King Stakes Gr2 at Turffontein. Their dam Base Paradise (Choisir) has also foaled recent Hong Kong winner Strathallan, a $240,000 Vinery graduate of the 2017 Melbourne Premier when purchased by Global Bloodstock.

Lot 83 is the Real Impact (Jpn) half-brother to Lindsay Park filly Afleet Esprit. She was the chief-earner for Champion Victorian sire Bel Esprit in 2014-15 after winning the Thousand Guineas Prelude Gr2.

The first-crop yearlings by Vinery sire Press Statement were well-received at the Gold Coast Magic Millions and Inglis Classic and, being a Gr1 Caulfield Guineas winner, he will also be popular at Oaklands.

The spotlight will be on Press Statement’s half-brother to Better Than Ready. Catalogued as Lot 426, he’s an outstanding individual and has impressed during pre-sale inspections. Besides boom sire Better Than Ready, their dam Sally’s World has also foaled More Than Ready filly Sally’s Realm, a recent Ascot winner for Perth’s key owners Bob and Sandra Peters.

All Too Hard also won a Caulfield Guineas and his Vinery colt from Extension Of Time (Lot 178) is a half-brother to five winners. Extension Of Time (Dash For Cash) and second-dam Nina Haraka (Fraar) were both Gr1-placed in Melbourne.

A Vinery consignment wouldn’t be complete without a More Than Ready yearling and his colt from Miss Marion (Lot 319) is a half-brother to Cox Plate Gr1 winner Pinker Pinker.

The Vinery legend also has a hand in the colt by Darley sire Street Boss (Lot 204). His USA-bred dam Grace and Power is a daughter of More Than Ready and she was Gr1-placed in the Starlit Stakes at Hollywood Park. Grace and Power is the dam of VRC Darley Classic Gr1 winner Delectation. He is one of 12 Gr1 winning graduates from Vinery at various Australian majors in recent years.
