Written By, Seabrook, Santa Ana Lane – all Gr1 winners in the past twelve months who were sold through the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. Over the years, this sale has produced many fine gallopers, including champions such as Black Caviar, Jameka, South African Horse of the Year Igugu, and globetrotting Starspangledbanner. Emerging stallions such as Reward for Effort and Trust in a Gust are also Inglis Melbourne Premier graduates.

Keep an eye on last year’s graduate Dawn Passage (a stakes-placed winner from two starts), and other stakes-placed 2YOs Namimo, Salome, and Shih Tzou. The 2017 sale (currently 3YOs) has produced two Gr1 winners, and eleven stakes winners to date, led by Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Written By, and Gr1 Champagne Stakes winner Seabrook, as well as high profile athletes Ringerdingding, Pure Elation, Stars of Currum, Crown Prosecutor, Bold Thruster, Kinky Boom, Military Zone, Prairie Fire, and Thrillster.

Other graduates from Melbourne include recent Gr1 winners Santa Ana Lane, Youngster, Hey Doc, Pasadena Girl, Enzo’s Lad, Scales of Justice, Good Project as well as Hong Kong sprinter Lucky Bubbles, and South African Gr1 winners Alboran Sea, Mac de Lago, and The Conglomerate.

A stellar catalogue of 786 yearlings is on offer in 2019, with siblings to 73 stakes-winners, including eight Gr1 winners – among them Caulfield Cup winner Boom Time (Lot 77), Melbourne Cup winner and sire Shocking (Lot 299), Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker (Lot 319), and Champagne Stakes winner Seabrook (Lot 310). A further 84 yearlings are the progeny of stakes-winning mares, including Gr1 winners Universal Queen (Lot 3), Bel Mer (Lot 67), In The Gold (Lot 223), Linky Dink (Lot 274), Quintessential (Lot 395), and Shuaily (Lot 749).

There are 22 first season sires represented in the Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale catalogue - Vancouver, Pride of Dubai, Press Statement, Kermadec, Exosphere, Spill The Beans, Scissor Kick, No Nay Never, Headwater, Outreach, Real Impact, Trust In A Gust, Contributer, Free Eagle, Jabali, Night of Thunder, Nostradamus, Ready for Victory, Bull Point, Rich Enuff, Super One and Vespa.

The catalogue includes plenty of variety for buyers with 120 different stallions represented, including proven sires Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Fastnet Rock, Exceed and Excel, Written Tycoon, Zoustar, Sebring, Pierro, Not A Single Doubt, Choisir, Hinchinbrook, Lonhro, Magnus, Medaglia d’Oro, Nicconi and Tavistock.

The Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale will be held at Oaklands Junction from Sunday March 3 until Wednesday March 6, 2019.
