Richly talented Exosphere made his mark on the racetrack early, winning fresh-up in February of his 2YO season, followed by a fabulous victory in the Gr2 Skyline Stakes over 1200m. With his ability as a leading juvenile now confirmed on the track, the son of Champion Sire Lonhro was aimed at the very best races for the rest of his career.

As a 3YO, Exosphere won his first three races for the season in succession – highlighted by victory in the Gr1 Golden Rose, as well as wins in the Gr2 Run to the Roses and Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes. The boom colt ended his spring with a stunning run for fourth in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and came back in the autumn to face the older horses, running fourth in the Gr1 Lightning Stakes to champion sprinter Chautauqua.

“Exosphere was a horse with amazing ability, as demonstrated in the Gr1 Golden Rose… He displays a lot of substance and he has a strong colonial speed pedigree. The Lonhro sireline has really kicked on and Exosphere looks as though he will add significantly to his father’s legacy,” said Darley’s Head of Sales Alastair Pulford.

Champion Sire, and Horse of the Year, Lonhro is one of those rare horses who can do everything, and with 78 stakes-winners (ten Gr1 winners) in his own right, he is now also fashioning a solid reputation as an emerging sire of sires with the likes of Pierro (12 stakes winners) and Denman (12 stakes winners), as well as many young stallions with youngsters about to hit the track. His progeny can sprint (Exosphere, Denman, Bounding, Impending, Kementari etc), run early (Pierro), and be classic horses (VRC Oaks winner Aristia).

Exosphere is out of a four time city winning Danzero mare, Altitude, and is her second foal. Her first foal, Elevates, is also a winner. This pedigree has a strong build-up of sires with Exosphere’s second dam being stakes-placed winner Highest (by Marscay), and his third dam being the stakes winner Consular Belle (dam of stakes winners Vibrant Virgo, and Tell me Straight).

Buyers will get a first look at the Exosphere yearlings at the Magic Millions Gold Coast sale, where he has 23 yearlings on offer. Exosphere also has 17 yearlings entered in the Inglis Classic yearling sale, a further 10 in book one at the New Zealand Bloodstock yearling sale, and nine at the Melbourne Premier Sale. His weanlings, in strong demand, sold for up to $160,000 last year.
