Easter The Jewel Of Sydney
Lot 208 is a half-sibling to Shooting To Win & Deep Field

Superlatives abound when it comes to the annual Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, writes Renée Geelen. Once again, this historic sale includes a mouth watering selection of elite pedigrees for an international audience, many of whom will get to experience the exceptional setting and facilities at Inglis' new Riverside complex for the first time.

In 2018, vendors will present 534 yearlings from the best mares on their farms, and by the best stallions, a mix of local and international, featuring both proven and exciting freshman yearling sires.

Current Champion Australian Sire Snitzel has the most yearlings catalogued with 64, while exciting young sire I Am Invincible (41) Champion Sire Fastnet Rock (39), emerging talent Sebring (34), sire of sires Redoute’s Choice (23), Golden Slipper winner and now Gr1 sire Pierro (21), and freshman sire and Horse of the Year Dissident (20) are the next most represented stallions at the sale.

Buyers looking for proven racetrack ability have the progeny of 31 Gr1 winning mares to inspect, including National Colour (whose first two foals are already Gr1 winners), and young racemares Amanpour, Peggy Jean, Secret Admirer, Go Indy Go, Norzita, Sacred Choice, Snitzerland, Bonaria, Plucky Belle, Mid Summer Music, and O’Marilyn.

Proven broodmares, who have already left a Gr1 winner, are another way for buyers to get immediate residual value for their purchases. The 2018 Easter Sale includes siblings to 38 Gr1 winners - Buffering (Lot 5), Japan Gr1 winner Aerolithe (Lot 25), Xtravagant (Lot 31), Mighty Boss (Lot 57), Catchy (Lot 67), Gathering (Lot 68), Jimmy Choux (Lot 72), English (Lot 77), Cosmic Endeavour (Lot 78), Hallowed Crown (Lot 81), Harry’s Son (Lot 81), Lankan Rupee (Lot 117), Mossfun (Lot 120), Fat Al (Lot 128), Flying Artie (Lot 138), Amicus (Lot 154), Alboran Sea (Lot 197), Shooting to Win (Lot 208), The Mission (Lot 254), Rafeef and Mustaaqeem (Lot 259), King’s Rose (Lot 266), Sonntag (Lot 280), Inference (Lot 291), Sebring (Lot 304), Steps in Time (Lot 316), Rumya (Lot 342), The Quarterback (Lot 370), Lucia Valentina (Lot 383), Summer Passage (Lot 390), Shoals (Lot 400), Volatile Mix (Lot 416), Costa Viva (Lot 430), Vanbrugh (Lot 492), and Tinto (Lot 497).

The strength of pedigrees on display at Easter makes it a must attend sale for anyone serious about their bloodstock investments, however the sale is held in such high esteem for the deeds of its alumni. Recent Group-winning graduates from Easter include Written By, Russian Revolution, Pinot, Merchant Navy, Catchy, Age Of Fire, Estijaab, Trapeze Artist, Formality, Thronum, Silverstream, Spring Heat, Villermont, Lubiton, Classic Uniform, Ulmann, Francaletta and Dashing Fellow, and they're just the tip of the iceberg of a very long list of high class individuals on the track.

It will begin with an afternoon session on Monday April 9, with approximately 120 Lots to be offered from 2pm on Day 1. Days 2 and 3 will both begin at 11am.
