At their debut sale at January's Gold Coast Magic Millions, Fernrigg Farm flew the gates and maintained the pace to finish with a full clearance, $154,000 average and $360,000 top price. This terrific opening result was testament to not only the offering of highly commercial bloodstock, but to the meticulous preparation of the Fernrigg team - on a property that can produce a superstar - one like Gr1 Sires' Produce winner and Gr1 Golden Slipper runner-up Yankee Rose.

Fernrigg Farm's Easter Yearling Sale Draft looks set to continue this dynamic trend with 3 colts and 1 filly ready to hit centre stage.

Lot 7 opens this super impressive boutique draft. He's the colt by Reliable Man from Adalia. Reliable Man has had a strong start to his stud career in NZ and looks destined to produce adaptable gallopers with the capacity to excel from 7 furlongs to a staying trip. Already he's produced a Gr3 1400m winner in Germany (Narella) and a Gr3 1600m winner in France (Erasmus). Of course, the progressive Main Stage has already shown the Australasian racing public what is in store for this sire through his deeds in the 2017 Spring where he catapulted from the tail of the field to win the Listed VRC USI Stakes before running a great race for 5th in the Gr1 VRC Derby. The dam of this colt, Adalia, is a half-sister to both Champion Singaporean Sprinter Big Maverick and UK stakes placed filly El Laoob. Aralia also has the runs on the board with her only foal to race so far being Gr3 Taranaki 2YO Classic placed Aquamosa.

Next up is Lot 139, the I Am Invincible filly from O'Reilly mare Fondle. One word here - proven. An outstanding, Gr1-producing sire, and a mare with 7 foals to race for 7 winners and 2 stakes-winners. Fondle, a winner herself, is a half-sister to Gr3 SA Fillies Classic winner Danaupair Starlet and has produced both South African Listed-winning / Gr2-placed colt Mitred as well as Listed-winning / Magic Millions Classic runner-up Combat Kitty. And the stats on this nick? 2 runners for 2 winners at 50% SW/R.

The standard continues 40 lots later (Lot 179) with the So You Think colt from Commands mare Jive Talk. So You Think was obviously a prodigious racehorses and his sire career is really starting to take off. Headlining his assault on the country's major races are Gr1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference, Gr1 Rosehill Guineas winner D'Argento and brilliant Gr1 NZ filly La Bella Diosa. He currently has 125 individual winners in the book and is rapidly approaching $10 million in progeny earnings. This colt is the first foal of twice winning Jive Talk, a sister to Gr1 Canterbury Stakes winner Holler. It's a bulletproof family that has produced a production line of stakes winners for both Woodlands Stud (Ingham Family) and now Godolphin across the past two decades and includes 3rd dam and Listed Black Opal winner Vocalist, her Champion Australian Sprinter Yell and Listed winning daughter Sung. The family also includes, perhaps most importantly, Party Miss, the dam of Gr1 Blue Diamond / Golden Slipper producing stallion Written Tycoon.

The final lot in the Fernrigg Farm draft is Lot 493, the colt by first season yearling sire Olympic Glory from Star de Jeu. A son of brilliant Australian sire Choisir, Olympic Glory was Equal Champion Miler in the UK and 4-time Gr1 winner with a lofty reputation heading into his stud career. And this colt may kick start it. He's from a half-sister to Gr3-placed NZ gelding Chapel Star. He's also from a half-sister to Stareel, dam of NZ Horse of the Year and 6-time Gr1 winner Dundeel. Plus the second dam Staring was Champion 3YO filly in NZ and winner of the NZ Oaks in a highlights package that included 7 black type victories.

This exciting Fernrigg Farm draft can be inspected at Barn D Stables 33-35 & 47,48.
