Synonymous with breeding elite athletes, George Altomonte’s Dunedoo-based Corumbene Stud has no peer in recent years when it comes to the Group 1 Golden Slipper. In a 10-strong draft which includes a half-sister to Slipper winner Sebring, no farm in last ten years has produced more winners of the world’s richest two-year-old contest than Corumbene Stud.

A winner of the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes and the Magic Millions Quality, the talented General Nediym mare Bennetta will be represented by her second yearling, a bay colt by Champion Sire Snitzel as Lot 43 from the family of Group 1 Australasian Oaks winner Belle Chanson.

The very next yearling through the ring, Lot 55, is by Snitzel’s Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice. The bay colt is out of the Group 3 placed Galileo mare Brightest, herself a half-sister to the dual Group 3-winning More Than Ready mare Nayeli, both daughters of the well-related Danehill mare Wasimah. From a family of stakes winners Kaphero, Princesa, Star Of Giselle, Solicit and Kapchat, the colt has been highly inspected at the farm already and is sure to prove popular in the sale ring.

With the sons and grandsons of Danehill being the order of the day, Corumbene Stud’s Lot 99 surely fits the bill. By Not A Single Doubt, the bay colt is a full-brother to the Hong Kong-based, Listed Darby Munro Stakes winner Southern Legend, now a winner of eight races, having added a recent victory to his impressive recorded Hong Kong record. Showing clear Group 1 ability, Southern Legend also finished a courageous fourth on the Group 1 Stewards’ Cup over 1600m behind Seasons Bloom, beaten a length three starts back, highlighting his outstanding ability in one of the toughest racing jurisdictions in the world.

From the family of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes Winner True Jewels and her Group 2-winning, Group 1 placed half-sister Wager, Lot 173 is a Hinchinbrook half-sister to the Corumbene Stud-raced Samantha, a winner of the Listed Fireball Stakes.

By Exceed And Excel, the Group 1-winning and Group 1-producing son of Danehill, Lot 302 is a bay colt out of the Group 2 Reisling Slipper Trail winner and Group 1 Golden Slipper runner up Pure Energy, a half-sister to the Group 2-winning, Group 1-placed Segments.

Set to sell as Lot 304, the bay filly is by Group 1 Flight Stakes winner Alizee’s sire in Sepoy, out of Purespeed, the Flying Spur half-sister to the Group 2 winner Surtee. The dam of five winners from eight to race, Purespeed’s highlight performer is the Champion 2YO Colt and Group 1 Golden Slipper winner Sebring, a Group 1 Horse of the Year producing sire as well. Also, the dam of the Group 2 winner Pureness and the Group 1 Queensland Oaks third-placed Falkenberg, this filly is sure to be on everyone’s must inspect list due to her residual broodmare value alone.

With the progeny of a broad selection of stallions on offer, Corumbene Stud’s 2018 draft offers buyers significant opportunities at every level.
