Toolooganvale Farm boasts an outstanding record at recent Classic Yearling Sales, selling not only a host of individual metropolitan winners but also the calibre of Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes filly Savanna Amour and stakes-placed Casino Prince gelding Crown Him.

The 2018 Classic Draft is certainly comparable on quality and includes 6 colts and 4 fillies, from a mixture of first season and established sires.

Lot 113 opens proceedings, a lovely chestnut filly by elite sire Choisir from US-bred mare and 11-time winner, Lightfeet Lady. This is a resilient, talented, adaptable family. Second dam To Please A Lady is a half-sister to Gr1 VRC Derby winner Rebel Raider, as well as stakes-winners Shamoline Warrior and Cadillac Mountain. It also has definite precocity and traces to Gr2 Blue Diamond Preview runner-up Haybah.

The next Lot (325) is worth the wait. He’s the first of two by hot first crop yearling sire Rubick in the draft, from a sister to the dashing Listed winner Launay (from the beautifully bred Palace Music (USA) mare Eve In Seychelles). This colt is regal top and bottom and also includes Gr2 Moonee Valley Cup winner Storm, Gr3 winner Runaway Groom and Gr1 AJC Oaks placed Regal Sea. The second Rubick is the filly from Dylan Thomas mare Elegant Rush. She’s the first foal of a twice-winning mare who hails from the blue-hen Hit and Giggle / Humour family of Danasinga, Typhoon Tracy and Red Element.

The other first crop yearling sire to feature in the Toolooganvale draft is Sidestep, Champion 2YO Colt in Australia in 2012-2013 and part of the talented Skilled / Ambidexter family. This colt (Lot 696) is from Danewin mare Dane Set and Match and includes Gr1 Goodwood Handicap winner Centisle and Gr2 Sunline Stakes winner Sylvaner amongst a plethora of black type.

Lot 466 is a colt by Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Aspect’s sire Pluck. He’s from the winning Lonhro mare Katisam, so far with a perfect strike rate of 2 winners from 2 runners. It’s a nice family that includes Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and 2015 Singaporean Horse of the Year Stepitup.

With his oldest still only 3YOs, Your Song is forging a very solid sire career that already includes the ilk of Dequettevillle Stakes winner Split Lip. This filly (Lot 547) is from a stakes-placed NZ bred mare and sister to Gr3 Standish Handicap winner Watchyerback. Further down the page you’ll find gold like Gr1 2000 Guineas winner Tap On Wood.

Lot 663 is next and is the colt by Duporth from Not a Single Doubt mare Adamant Lass. Duporth already has a Gr1 winner in Hey Doc and this family is one that continuously produces winners – 9 in the first 3 dams. Most prominent is Listed winner and Gr1-performed Riding Shotgun.

Manhattan Rain? She Will Reign! Lot 703 is a cross that has worked before. Both SW Manhattan Street and SP Man of Choice are by Manhattan Rain from Redoute’s Choice mares. This particular filly is from a Not a Single Doubt mare which is encouraging. It’s the first foal of Di Maria, from the family of Irish Listed winner Carlingford Rose (dam of SP Castle Song).

The penultimate Lot is 723, a colt by Myboycharlie, again from a Not a Single Doubt mare in Favourite Miss. And what a talented family. There’s Gr1 winner Eagle Way, Gr2 runner-up Assertive Eagle, Listed winners Impressive Eagle and Soaressa (and her talented SW son Thermal Current). And rounding out a superb draft is Lot 746, the colt by Street Cry’s very talented son Carlton House (oldest 2YO’s) from Danehill line mare, Ilringya. This is a strong sprinting family headlined by Gr1 Sires’ Produce winner Rechabite and Sires runner-up Century Pike.
