Kanangra

Kanangra’s boutique drafts always punch well above their weight and its 2018 Inglis Classic offering of 7 is no exception. It’s an operation with experience and credibility that continues to produce winners at all levels, including the ilk of Gr1 winner Under The Louvre and tenacious Gr2 winner / Gr1-placed filly In Her Time.

The draft starts with surety with Lot 243. He’s the colt by Gr1 producing sire Dream Ahead, from Desert Sun mare Al Sahra, a proven stakes-producer of Listed winner Alart and with a perfect record of 2 to race for 2 winners. The pedigree also tracks to In Her Time.

On the topic of In Her Time, stop the presses at Lot 434. She’s the half-sister to the triple Gr2-winning, dual Gr1 placed mare. By Champion European Sprinter-Miler Olympic Glory from Hell It’s Hot, this is a rock-solid page. The dam has already produced 4 winners from 5 runners and the second dam also has stakes-winners Flaming Hot and Craig’s Dragon on her CV.

One stallion that surely can’t continue to fly under the radar is Nicconi, the sire of Lot 516. With a terrific W/R record percentage of 71.4 and average earnings per starter of over $57,000, he’s a winner-producing machine and increasingly so at the top level with top liners Faatinah, Nature Strip, Sircconi and Nicoscene flying the flag. The Kanangra colt is from Loup Sauvage mare Marie De Guise (4 to race for 4 winners) and from the super Irish family of Piney Ridge.

Next up (Lot 632) is from another long-proven Kanangra family. By promising 2YO sire Declaration of War, this colt is from precocious Sri Pekan mare Sri Lanka. She’s already produced Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes winner Master Harry and W/R of 89 per cent. It gets better. Her unraced daughter Barcelona Girl kept up the high standards by producing Gr1 winner Under The Louvre. This colt should really run early.

Lot 700 is by the Leading GB/Ire First Season Sire of 2015 in Zoffany, from Encosta de Lago mare Delarouze. Like most Kanangra mares, she operates high on the W/R charts with 2 from 2 so far. This is just a winning family (2nd Dam 7 from 8 and 3rd Dam 4 from 5). If you want a trophy then the odds say to buy this filly.

Kanangra’s penultimate Lot is 711, by Poet’s Voice from Perugino mare Elegant Angela. Featuring a double cross of speed influence Danzig, the dam has already produced Listed Merson Cooper winner. This is the prolific black ink family of Heart of Market which runs from 1200m (Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Marscay) to 3200m (Gr1 winner Subzero).

The draft rounds out with Lot 790, by Casino Prince (sire of All Too Hard) from Magic Albert mare Painted Gold, a full-sister to Master Harry and half-sister to Barcelona Girl (dam of Under The Louvre). This is a filly that should have 2YO ability, be better at 3 and offer significant residual value down the track.
