Scone-based Holbrook Thoroughbreds looks set to eclipse the $230,000 top price it achieved at the 2017 Inglis Classic with an outstanding draft of 2018 yearlings. From a sire perspective, it’s a collection that includes established quality, emerging class and first crop strength.

Lot 261 opens affairs in this dynamic draft of 8, a lovely filly by Dissident’s sire Sebring from Redoute’s Choice mare, Antique Rose. This is a family that has had incredible success in the cerise and white of leading Perth owner Bob Peters for many years and includes stakes performers such as Broadway Belle, Antique Belle, Antique Dream, Arcadia Dream and Arcadia Rose.

Exciting Gr1 Caulfield Guineas-winning first crop sire Shooting To Win is the sire of Lot 300, the filly from Street Sense mare Broadway and Fifth. It’s a pedigree that is the epitome of adaptability and includes Champion stayer and Gr1 Melbourne Cup-winning mare Jezabeel (2nd Dam), Macau Horse of the Year Racing Eight and the dashing Rasmussen.

Stay in the ring and be prepared for the next Lot. 301 is the first of two Nicconi fillies on offer by Holbrook. She’s from a half-sister to Listed winner and Gr2-placed filly Nieta (also by Nicconi). Other highlights include 2nd Dam Brookton Falsh, a half-sister to Gr1 George Main Stakes winner Sincero. Only 5 lots later is the second Nicconi filly, this girl from Tale of the Cat mare Cara Blanca. Yet again it’s another classy page littered with stakes-winners and success both in Hong Kong and Singapore with the dam being a half-sister to both Royal partner (HK) and Beam Me Up (Sing.) respectively. It also highlights Gr3 success in Ireland (Mkuzi) and Listed success in France (Alliteration) and has a nice top and bottom duplication of Danzig through Bianconi and second dam Hill of Peace.

Lot 403 shines the spotlight on a filly by Fastnet Rock’s top end speed based sire Hinchinbrook. She’s from Catrail mare Foscat who boasts a solid record of 5 winners from 8 runners. This is the famous Swettenham Stud family of Kensington Gardens and her super clan of Blackfriars, Larrocha, Monton, Waterford Road etc.

Lot 441 is another from the family of Lot 306, from Danehill mare Hill of Peace. He’s the colt by consistent Queensland based speed influence Love Conquers All, sire of stakes-winners with the ability of Gr2-winning mare Savanna Amour.

Champion and dual Gr1 Cox Plate winner So You Think is rapidly emerging as a sire to be reckoned with and Lot 537 is a filly with high level appeal and tremendous residual value. She’s from Marscay mare Moon Cha Cha and has already produced 3 stakes performers (Sunday Rose, Divine Moon and Moonboat). It gets better. 2nd Dam Taareck is a half-sister to Canny Lad and Canny Lass and traces to Gr1 winners Camarena, Camarilla, Champion Filly Guelph and Gr1 Golden Slipper winner and sire Sepoy.

The draft concludes with yet more sire strength with the filly by Pierro (sire of Gr1 VRC Oaks winner Pierro and upcoming superstar Pierata. From Danehill Dancer mare Princess Natural this is yet another top drawer family. 2nd Dam Natural Is My Name produced Champion 2YO Zizou, runner-up in the Golden Slipper and 3rd Dam Singles Bar has an absolute dynasty headed by Champion Sire Not A Single Doubt. Surely another filly with terrific residual value.
