The team at Fernrigg Farm heads to the new Inglis Riverside Stables with confidence after their debut Magic Millions Yearling Draft achieved a full clearance rate, averaging an impressive $154,000 and selling to $360,000. The dynamic new operation will be offering a similar sized draft (13 yearlings) in their inaugural Classic Draft, and it is a baker’s dozen worthy of serious consideration by all sectors of the buying bench.

The Fernrigg set commences at Lot 38 with the filly by 2014-2015’s Leading Australian First Season Sire Hinchinbrook, from the two-time winner producer Searching. Featuring a lovely sex-balanced duplication of superior speed influence Snippets, the family also includes quality the standard of Gr3 winner Sovereign Kite; 22 Lots later is the Wandjina colt from Bel Esprit mare Rowdy Belle. It’s the first foal of the half-sister to Tigresque.

Wandjina’s oldest are yearlings and, being a son of reigning champion sire Snitzel, you’d be highly surprised if his progeny didn’t display not only his natural speed but also the tenacity of Wandjina himself. This colt includes some classy names like Gr3 Newcastle Cup winner Time Off and Listed-winning half-brother Grandiloquent.

Another hot first crop yearling sire in Rubick features in the form of Lot 177. This filly is from Exceed and Excel mare Tinjirani who so far has the perfect record of 3 winners from 3 runners. It’s a nice family with solid residual appeal with 2^nd dam by the mighty broodmare influence Zabeel and the dam of Gr1 winner Apercu.

Continuing the first crop theme, Lot 324 is by Starspangledbanner’s Champion French 2YO Colt The Wow Signal from a stakes-placed mare. Again, this mare is batting high with a 4 from 4 W/R conversion. It’s the family of talented stakes-placed filly Jennifer and descends to 3^rd dam and Gr1 Sydney Cup winner Palace Revolt.

Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Star Witness continues to produce performers with top end ability. Most recently, Gr1 winner Global Glamour and stakes-winners Star Turn and Our Crown Witness are a sample of what can be expected. The added benefit is that this filly is from an Encosta de Lago mare and from a half-sister to the dam of Gr2 Schillaci and Rubiton winner Super Cash. It’s a nice family that traces to France and Listed winning family of Felicita.

The Fernrigg draft features two yearlings by Gr1 William Reid Stakes-winning sire Foxwedge, sire of Gr1 winner Foxplay. Lot 590 is the filly from stakes-placed mare and winner-producer Powerful Light. The pedigree also includes Sir Tristram and Gr3 placed Bourbon and Ice. Meanwhile, Lot 627 is also a filly by Foxwedge, this one from the Street Cry mare Snippet Street. The dam has already had 2 winners from 3 runners and includes the speed ability of Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude winner Western Ace.

Splitting the Foxwedges is Lot 613, a colt by Jimmy Choux from Saltatio, a half-sister to both NZ Gr2 winner Rasa Lila and Gr3 winner Posavina. 4^th dam is none other than Champion USA Sprinter My Juliet (dam of triple Gr1 freak Stella Madrid).

The next 2 Lots are also both by first crop yearling sires. The first is Lot 645, by High Chapparal’s dual Gr1-winning son Toronado from stakes-placed mare Tigresque. This filly is another from the talented Grandiloquent family. Lot 681 is by red hot first crop yearling sire and Horse of the Year Dissident from Street Cry mare Calmante. Also a filly, the dam is a half-sister to stakes-placed filly Calming Influence (from Stakes-winning dam Calming), with her page tracing to Germany’s Champion Older Male Sprinter of 2009 in War Artist.

Lot 713 comes with a super contemporary pedigree. Third dam Sunshine Sally, herself having the natural rare ability to be able to win a Gr2 Reisling Slipper Trial while extend to take second in the Gr1 AJC Oaks, produced not only Listed Gimcrack Stakes winner Millie, but the grand-dam of Australia’s Champion 2YO and Gr1 Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign. And this colt also has the X factor of being by Black Caviar’s sire in Bel Esprit.

The penultimate lot in the Fernrigg draft is Lot 722, a daughter of hot first crop yearling sire Deep Field. She's from a Fastnet Rock mare. Plus, it’s a good sprinting family, including 3^rd dam Western Chorus, winner of the Gr3 Swettenham Stud Stakes and her two stakes winners in HK Champion Mile winner Jeune King Prawn and Listed Melbourne winner Creative Plan.

The draft finishes on a high with a powerful filly by dual Gr1 Cox Plate winner So You Think from Anabaa mare Petroica. Like Encosta de Lago, Anabaa is an elite broodmare sire. Petrioca is also a half-sister to Listed winner Mustaagel and stakes-placed Stratum gelding Juggernaut Rock.
