Panzer Division’s first foals arrive in 2017.
Highly rated Group 3 winner Panzer Division follows very clear hoofprints at Arrowfield, as a son of champion sire Redoute’s Choice with untapped talent and a starting fee in the same range as leading sire Not A Single Doubt and the much-missed Beneteau.
Panzer Division progressed from an impressive debut 2YO win straight to a thrilling Spring 3YO quinella with Scissor Kick in the ATC Up and Coming S. G3 over 1300 metres.
He then claimed his own Group 3 success in the 1400-metre ATC Ming Dynasty H., giving weight and a 1.3 length beating to Group 1 winner Shooting To Win.
At only his fourth start in the weight-for-age ATC George Main S. 1600m G1, Panzer Division raced outside the leader to the turn and fought on in the straight for what Timeform described as a “most creditable” fifth. That performance, finishing only 2.6 lengths from the winner Sacred Falls, and ahead of three-time Group 1 winner Lucia Valentina, earned Panzer Division a Timeform rating of 120. His Autumn prospects looked bright, but his career ended after only seven starts.
Trainer Paul Messara says, “Panzer Division is close to the perfect thoroughbred horse on conformation and presence, he’s a stunning individual, and very like Redoute’s Choice himself. He also had a huge amount of ability and we had high aspirations for him, but his career was cut short by injury in the Hobartville Stakes.”
Panzer Division and his Group 2-winning full sister Kebede descend from a half-sister to the influential broodmare Cinna through a strong South American branch of the family established in the 1930s.
Panzer Division’s dam is the dual Group 1 winner Desert Fight, the 2006 Champion 2YO Filly in Chile, by multiple champion sire Hussonet, also a leading broodmare sire of Blue Diamond G1 winner Extreme Choice (by Not A Single Doubt) and champion filly Majmu (by Redoute’s Choice).
