To win one race is fun. To win six in succession including a Gr2 is the type of thrill that everyone in racing chases. Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale graduate Mahuta did just that, culminating with his victory in the 2016 Gr2 MRC Autumn Stakes. In his 13 starts thus far, he’s accumulated $1.7 million – a substantial return on his $35,000 price at Adelaide's annual yearling sale.
The 2017 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale will be held at Morphettville from March 13 to 15, and comprises 469 quality yearlings. Other recent graduates of this sale include super tough Happy Trails, Viddora, Hucklebuck, Jim’s Journey, and Ocean Embers. Sold for a paltry $11,000 from the draft of highly respected vendor Mill Park, Happy Trails went on to amass a staggering $3.3 million in earnings before his retirement following the Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes, fittingly a race he won during his stellar career.
The catalogue includes siblings to Gr1 winners Heavenly Glow, Shocking and the runaway VRC Oaks winner Lasqueti Spirit; as well as half-siblings to group winners Carrara, Churchill Downs, Divine Calling, Lady Lynette, Blahnik, Liberty’s Gem and Valpolicella. There are a further 28 lots who are closely related to stakes winners. A filly from Gr1 winner Imperial Beauty leads the list of yearlings from quality racemares, and others include yearlings out of group winners Rubicall, Spurn, Afraah, Country Lodge, Faiza, Kats Clause, Super Lacuna and Techniques. There are also a further 14 yearlings out of stakes winning mares and eight from group placed mares.
For buyers looking for value, this catalogue includes yearlings eligible for a wide range of bonus schemes including 196 BOBS eligible, 149 Super VOBIS nominated, 142 SABOIS Breeder Paid and 12 SABOIS Fully Qualified yearlings.
The 469 yearlings are by 123 stallions including 20 first season sires such as Gr1 winner Akeed Mofeed, Dawn Approach, Declaration of War, Dundeel, Epaulette, Ferlax, Fiorente, Shamus Award, Sizzling, Spirit of Boom, The Factor and Zoustar.
Other sires represented include Artie Schiller, Bel Esprit, Choisir, Dalakhani, Good Journey, High Chaparral, Hinchinbrook, Hussonet, I Am Invincible, Magnus, Medaglia d’Oro, Not a Single Doubt, Sebring, Snitzel, Star Witness, Statue of Liberty, Stratum and Written Tycoon.
