At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, Cambridge Stud's deceased multiple Champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) celebrated an elite success when top-class 4YO entire Preferment (Zabeel-Better Alternative, by Flying Spur) scored by 0.2-length for trainer Chris Waller in the $1.5 million Gr1 The BMW (2400m) for 3YO+, over 7YO gelding and stable-mate Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital-Ears Carol, by Carolingian) & 6YO UK-bred gelding and stable-mate Grand Marshal (Dansili-Margarula, by Doyoun). Preferment, who was purchased by Chris Waller Racing for $190,000 at the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge Stud, took his record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Australian Cup, Gr1 Turnbull Stakes, Gr1 Victoria Derby & G2 Hill Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas & Listed Geelong Classic) from 20 starts for $3,364,605 earnings. Waller said Preferment would have his next start in the $4 million Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on 9 April. "We'll just back right off and take him to the beach, even do a bit of dressage with him, just to keep him interested, keep him sparked right up," Waller said.
