Stands 2016 at Grangeview Stud, QLD, for $8,800

Whittington was a precocious 2YO who won the Listed Randwick Breeders’ Plate as an October 2YO. From 4 starts as a 2YO, he won twice and placed in the Listed Canonbury Stakes. At three, he won the Magic Millions Sprint in track record time and came back as a 4YO to win the Listed Lightning Handicap during the Brisbane carnival.

His sire, Tale of the Cat, has put together a stud record that makes most stallion proprietors envious. Sire of 103 stakes-winners globally, Tale of the Cat has sired Gr1 winners across the world. Locally, he has left dual Gr1 winning sprinter Glamour Puss, NZ Classic winner Tell a Tale, and WA Gr1 winner Gathering. As a sire of sires, he has left Lion Heart (36 stakes-winner in America), as well as local stars Falkirk (7 stakes-winners including HK Derby winner Fay Fay and this season’s Singapore Derby winner Well Done), and emerging horse Real Saga (5 stakes-winners including Candelara).

Whittington is from Tasmanian Oaks winner Maha Chakri, from a tough Australian family that includes stakes-winner of 15 races Ta Ta Tatiana, as well as Delago Bolt and last season’s 2YO stakes-winner Volpe Veloce. This is his second season at stud, and his first crop of foals are due now.
