Awesome Rock (AUS)
Awesome Rock is Fastnet Rock's highest earning son

(Fastnet Rock-Awesome Planet, by Giant's Causeway)
Stands 2017 at Gold Front, WA, for $8,000

Gold Front Thoroughbreds will stand freshman sire Awesome Rock (Fastnet Rock x Awesome Planet, by Giant’s Causeway) at their Gingin stud in 2017.

Awesome Rock earned over $2 million in prize money during his career, to become the highest earning son of Fastnet Rock in Australia. He would have won significantly more if not losing the Gr1 Australian Cup on objection to four-time Gr1 winner Preferment.

Awesome Rock is a magnificent individual who took on and beat the best on the racetrack. His stunning win in the Gr1 Emirates-Mackinnon Stakes was against an international field that included eight Gr1 winners with French star Vadamos left in his wake along with Hauraki, The United States and Palentino. This came after his brilliant win in the Gr2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley over a class field that included star mares Jameka, Suavito, Set Square and Real Love. Awesome Rock's stellar performance record includes:

  • Won G1 WFA Emirates-Mackinnon Stakes (2000m)
  • 2nd G1 WFA Australian Cup (2000m) - on protest.
  • Won G2 WFA Dato Tan Chin Nam - Feehan Stakes(1600m)
  • 2nd G2 2YO VRC Sires Stakes (1400m)
  • 2nd G3 David Jones Cup (2000m)
  • 3rd G3 3YO Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m)
  • 3rd G3 3YO HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m)
  • 3rd G3 3YO Fred Best Plate (1350m)
  • Won Listed James Boags Symphony Stakes (1800m)
  • Won 2YO Handicap (1300m)

The star Gr1-winning son of Champion Racehorse and International Sire Fastnet Rock was the first foal from Gold Front mare Awesome Planet and sold at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale for $575,000. Awesome Planet won the Group 3 Doomben Roses as well as the Listed Soliloquy Stakes and Manawatu Breeders Stakes in New Zealand. She was also Gr1-placed in the New Zealand 1000 Guineas.

Awesome Rock has been described as near perfect by trainer Troy Corstens. "He is close to the perfect thoroughbred, a stunning athlete and such a physical type. If you look at the way the stallion market is trending towards stallions with that real physical presence, it really creates a fantastic opportunity for a horse like Awesome Rock." Corstens believes that Awesome Rock is capable of leaving Classic performers, particularly future high class milers.

Goffs UK managing director, Tony Williams, believes that Awesome Rock is "physically the equal of any stallion standing at stud. Being what I would call a proper physical type as a Yearling suggests he will reproduce that level of quality in his foals which will lend itself to the commercial market."

Champion Sire Fastnet Rock is quickly becoming a sire of sires and Awesome Rock offers breeders access to one of his best performed sons.

Gold Front will stand Awesome Rock for an introductory fee of $8,000 (inc GST).
