A winner of his only start as a 2YO, Swear showed all the makings of a young horse with an untapped future.
Back in the spring as an early 3YO, Swear pounced again, winning the Gr3 Ming Dynasty over 1400m first up. He just missed in the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes, finishing second to Gr1 2YO winner Yankee Rose, and beating subsequent VRC Derby and dual Gr1 winner Prized Icon.
Swear has speed and pedigree, with outstanding conformation to complete the picture. He sold for $725,000 as a yearling – proof of his combined type and pedigree – and lived up to that expectation with a group victory as a precocious 3YO. By Redoute’s Choice, the esteemed sire of sires, Swear retires to Spendthrift as their first Stakes winning yearling purchase since entering the market in 2014.
Swear’s dam was the Top 2YO filly in NZ, Crossyourheart, winner of six races, four as a 2YO. Crossyourheart is a full-sister to Gr3 winner Gotta Have Heart, and to the dam of currently racing group placed Al Pacino. Swear’s third dam is the tough group winner Soleil Rouge, who counts Hong Kong Sprint winner All Thrills Too among her descendants.
For precocious speed, backed by a huge juvenile pedigree, Swear is a potential-laden option for Australia's breeders.
