Palentino (AUS)
Palentino won over $1.3 million on the track

(Teofilo–Palatine Hill, by Palace Music)
Stands 2017 at Sun Stud for $17,600

A flashy chestnut, Palentino won a Listed race at just his third start, and was set the ambitious Gr1 target of the Australian Guineas at only his sixth start. He won, beating Gr1 winners Tarzino and Risque. The following spring, he beat multiple Gr1 winner (and the only horse to push Winx that season) Black Hart Bart in the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes over a mile - thus proving that he was a serious racehorse by anyone’s measure. All up, Palentino won five starts (four at stakes level), and over $1.3 million in prizemoney.

Palentino is a son of dual Gr1 winner Teofilo, whose achievements on the track rated him the Champion 2YO in Europe of 2006. At stud, Teofilo’s oldest progeny are only 6yos, and he already has 65 stakes winners and twelve Gr1 winners. In Australia, Teofilo’s Gr1 winners include Palentino, Kermadec, Humidor, and Sonntag. His stock are versatile, winning Gr1 2YO races such as the Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes, through to the classics like the Irish Derby.

One of five winners from his city winning dam, Palentino’s dam Palatine Hill is a half-sister to the stakes winners Sublimity and Rather Grand. This is the family of many stakes winners across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

Palentino is an exciting option for breeders looking for a tough miler with a versatile pedigree.
