Toolooganvale Farm
Toolooganvale Farm

Toolooganvale is a boutique broodmare farm which has been owned and operated by the Harris family for over twenty years. Geoff Harris is the principal of the business and has been heavily involved in the thoroughbred breeding industry for many years.

Nestled in the Upper Dartbrook valley, just 15 kilometres west of Scone, the farm is perfectly situated and in close proximity to all of the major stud farms in the Hunter Valley.

Toolooganvale comprises 90 acres at the main farm and a further 250 acres diagonally across from the main farm. There is a further 150 acres leased next to the farm resulting in a total of 490 acres. All properties have been fenced specifically for thoroughbred horses, and the considerable land available means that horses can be regularly rotated and the paddocks routinely rested. We are also able ensure that there is ample separation of fillies and colts, and can accommodate less number of mares per paddock than is the industry norm.

Toolooganvale can offer clients the following services:

  1. General agistment at very competitive rates
  2. Foaling down
  3. Weaning
  4. Walk-ons to all Hunter Valley studs
  5. Weanling and yearling preparation
  6. Attendance at all sales

During the foaling season, all mares, as they approach their due date, are electronically monitored from the main homestead. Whilst foal watch staff are employed, all foaling down is attended personally by Geoff. Meanwhile, the close proximity of the farm to Scone means that our veterinary care is literally 10 minutes away. Our staff are competent with respect to administering all daily treatments that may be necessary and we maintain an extensive range of veterinary products required on a day to day basis.

All walk-ons are carried out by Geoff in our own truck. This significantly reduces the risk of the spread of infection as we are only transporting horses from our farm. The farm is well equipped for yearling preparation, with sufficient stabling and boxes to ensure that we can prep a good number of yearlings for our drafts each year. However, our smaller size also means that we are able to offer a very intensive and closely monitored yearling and weanling preparation service.

Geoff is able to offer clients his considered opinion in relation to breeding and mating options and is always available to chat to clients. In addition, clients are kept informed of their horse's progress via our farm specific computerised records.
