Maluka Thoroughbreds
Maluka principals Luke and Mags

Attention to detail is the ideology at Maluka Thoroughbreds, where everything happens by design and nothing is left to chance. Located near Euroa in Victoria, Maluka Thoroughbreds is a boutique broodmare agistment property where the focus is on the development and rearing of sound individuals.

Founded by Luke and Mags Anderson, whose wealth of Thoroughbred industry knowledge has allowed them to build Maluka Thoroughbreds into property that caters to the individual needs of each horse they care for. Luke and Mags Anderson met at the renowned New Zealand nursery Cambridge Stud. A Melbourne boy at heart, Luke was awarded the NMIT Diploma in Horse Studies Scholarship, and on conclusion of that qualification, he started work at Cambridge Stud. After several years of experience, Luke went on to become the Stud Manager at New Zealand’s Dormello Stud before moving back to Australia and working at Chatswood Stud, prior to starting Maluka Thoroughbreds. Mags is equally well qualified, having been the Yearling Manager at Cambridge Stud for nearly a decade prior to commencing Maluka Thoroughbreds.

Situated in Euroa, in the heart of Victorian Thoroughbred country, Maluka Thoroughbreds is spread across two properties with a range of safe facilities for young Thoroughbreds. The main property is an easy ninety minute drive from Melbourne and is near all the major studs in the region. As Maluka Thoroughbreds continues to expand their facilities, they now provide a full foaling down, and walk out service for broodmares. The growth at Maluka Thoroughbreds has been achieved organically in order to ensure that the service provided to clients remains a hands-on with high quality attention to detail for every horse. Every stage of a young horse’s life is catered for at Maluka Thoroughbreds, from foaling through to yearling sales; as well as spelling during their racing careers.

Maluka Thoroughbreds have only been selling yearlings for a couple of seasons, and already they have several city winning graduates, highlighted by this season’s debut winner and stakes placed Perast (by Snitzel), who they sold at last year’s Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale. With the strength of experience brought to Maluka Thoroughbreds by Mags Anderson in this arena, Maluka puts strong emphasis on sales preparation. This process starts early with foals and weanlings monitored for correctness of limb and handled frequently to encourage a relaxed disposition. Every horse has an individual program, and the Andersons are highly focused on the temperament of each horse to ensure the individual is happy in their routine and environment. This reduces injuries, and ensures that these young Thoroughbreds thrive as they take each step towards the racetrack.
