Davali Thoroughbreds

Bordered by the Hunter River and positioned on the historic Twin Palms Stud, Davali Thoroughbreds has the nurture side of the equine success equation firmly in balance. And for this year’s Inglis Easter Sale Alison Hush and her highly experienced team have prepared 5 outstanding yearlings that star on the counts of pedigree and confirmation.

The boutique draft is helmed by two dynamic colts. The first, Lot 242, is a son of the all-conquering and highly fashionable Snitzel. Boasting over $72 million in progeny earnings and 56 individual stakes winners, he is not only a production line for 2YO speed machines but also carries residual appeal as a burgeoning stallion producer. Sons Shamus Award, Wandjina and Sizzling have all retired to stud with outstanding credentials and others are on the way. This colt also carries serious distaff credibility. From the Bluebird mare Montana Downs (herself a half-sister to Gr2 STC Todman Slipper Trial Stakes runner-up Montana Sands), he’s a half-brother to Gr2 winning and Gr1 placed mare Montana Flyer. He’s also a half to Gr2 STC Light Fingers Stakes runner-up Montana Sunset and TRC Hobart Guineas second Caravaggio.

The second colt (Lot 297) is also top drawer. By Fastnet Rock from the Sunday Silence mare Quiet Life, blue-blood doesn’t come much bluer than here. Not only have Fastnet Rock’s 1400+ yearlings gone under the hammer for an average of $208,000 (selling to $4,000,000) but he’s also the sire of this year’s emphatic Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy. This colt is a half to Champion Miler & Champion Stayer in Singapore, Better Life, winner of the Gold Cup, Derby, Kranji Mile and QEII Cup. His second dam is none other than the Champion 2YO USA Filly Storm Song, winner of the Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Another luminary on the page is Order Of St George, Head of the 2015 World Thoroughbred Rankings.

Davali Throughbreds also has a lovely filly by Redoute’s Choice from the same family as the Snitzel colt (outlined above). She’s the succeeding Lot (243) and is from stakes-placed Montana Sunset, dam of one to race for one winner so far.

Two other exciting fillies round out the Davali draft. Lot 76 (their first Lot for sale) is by promising Emirates Park-based entire Dream Ahead, a Gr1 winner of the Newmarket July Cup and sire already of stakes winners Donjuan Triumphant in France and Ken’s Dream in Melbourne. This filly is from Gr3 winning Charge Forward mare Cavalry Rose. Interestingly, Charge Forward is also the broodmare sire of current Gr1 Golden Slipper favourite She Will Reign. It’s a really nice family, featuring stakes winners Straussbridge, Te Akau Rose, Testarhythm and Alberton Star.

The final offering is Lot 380, the filly by Bernardini from stakes winning Scenic mare Sweet Corn. She is the dam of black type winner Baby Corn, herself the dam of 2016-2017 Blue Diamond contender Cornrow. It’s a progressive family that tends to produce athleticism.
